The competition was launched by the festival in cooperation with the academy with the aim of spreading the culture of watching, criticizing and analyzing very short films among young people and the public. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Ghada Gebara, President of the Academy, and in the presence of Dr. Nevin El Kilani, former Minister of Culture, artist Elham Shaheen, Honorary President of the Festival, great artist Sawsan Badr, Dr. Walid Shousha, Dean of the Higher Institute of Art Criticism, Dr. Osama Abu Nar, President of the Festival, Mr. Ziad Basmir, Vice President of the Festival, and a number of filmmakers, critics and professors of the Higher Institute of Art Criticism. The winners received cash prizes of 30 thousand pounds, where the first place winner, Tunisian Faten Redan from Tunisia, received 15 thousand pounds, while Moati Allah Mohamed El Amin from Algeria received second place and a cash prize of 10 thousand pounds, and Mohamed Amin from Tunisia received third place and a prize of 5 thousand pounds. On the sidelines of the ceremony, Dr. Nevin El Kilani, Dr. Ghada Gebara, Dr. Rania Yehia, Director of the Egyptian Academy in Rome, and Dr. Walid Shousha were honored for their efforts in bringing the competition to light.
